Submission Guidelines

General Guidelines
Submissions for journal content are accepted at the end of Fall and Spring semesters. All work must be accompanied by a cover letter that includes the submitter’s name, phone number, email address, year or graduation date, major, and each entry’s title and genre. Please also include a 20 to 25 word biography. Submissions will be accepted in more than one genre or as multiple works in the same genre, but no more than 10 works per genre per person will be considered. The work itself should include only its title, not the submitter’s name. Up to seven student works will be selected for Bridge Awards (which carry a $200 honorarium). Editors may submit work by following the established guidelines, but they are inegible to win awards. All submissions must be accompanied by a short bio (the form is hyperlinked below).

Literature Guidelines
Prose must be double-spaced. Preference will be given to shorter pieces. Please note that pieces may need to be edited for publication. Retain a copy of your work, as it will not be returned. You may submit work electronically (by email) or in hardcopy. Email submissions are preferred, and may be sent to the address noted above. Hardcopy manuscripts may be mailed to the address listed above, or dropped off in person to the BSU Mail Room (located in the basement of Tillinghast Hall).

Visual Arts Guidelines
We do not accept art submissions electronically (by email). You may submit work by bringing it to the Bridge office in Tillinghast Hall (room 239). Please be sure that your artwork is either in high-resolution digital format (minimum 300dpi) or is photo or scanner-ready (unframed). No work will be stored, except in special circumstances. Please note that on rare occasion a piece may need some minor editing to appear at its best for publication.

Submission Forms

Contributors Notes
All contributors will be acknowledged with a short biography in the journal. Bringing a completed Biography Form with you may speed up the submission process; click here for a copy.

Entry Form
Identifying information for each entry (multiple entries will each need their own form) is maintained on entry submission forms; all identifying information will be removed from each entry so that all work can be evaluated in a blind selection process. Identifying information will only be attached to submissions once the blind selection process for journal content has been completed. Bringing a completed Submission Form with you when dropping off entries may speed up the submission process; you can find a copy of the form here.
